The concept of system lifecycle management is easy. One takes software, configuration and content from development and put it into production. One then make more changes to the software, configuration and content in development, and put that into production. One takes issues and situations from production, and tries to reproduce them in development. Concepts are easy. The reality of system lifecycle management is hard. The production systems may not have ended up being identical. Hardware might be different. Underlying software versions might be different. One can not exactly map back and forth between development and production. This situation is not fun. The actual process to implement the concept can be even harder.
