Religion & Economic Growth And Development
Source: Munich Personal Repec Archive
This paper deals with the issue of Religion and Economic growth of a country/region. A Religion can be broadly described as a set of common beliefs and practices generally held by a group of people, often codified as prayer, ritual, and religious law. Religion also encompasses ancestral or cultural traditions, writings, history, and mythology, as well as personal faith and mystic experience. Karl Marx described religion as the 'Opium of masses'. Early writings on Economics always considered Religion as an exogenous factor and didn't assume any causal link between it and the growth and development of a country.
