RFID tags pose a huge threat to privacy. People can be identified, tracked and profiled when carrying RFID tags. People buying RFID tagged products are offered to permanently disable the tag. Although this approach does preserve privacy, it is sometimes considered undesirable and too crude. This paper will consider more subtle and temporary ways of disabling the functionality of mass produced RFID tags. The Radio Frequent IDentification (RFID) tag is the successor of the traditional bar code found on products. A RFID tag consists of a small integrated circuit with an antennae, capable of sending an unique identification number and more over several meters to a RFID reader, in response to a query.
