There's little debate that companies should invest in their people by offering job training and other educational opportunities. But such things are usually viewed as expenses rather than investments. The facts are clear however; companies that invest in employee training have higher productivity, revenue and profit growth than companies that do not, according to a recent study conducted by the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD). In 2008, due to tough U.S. economic conditions, the total training industry expenditures reduced from $58.5 billion to $56.2 billion, with 14% allocated for sales training alone, equaling over $7.8 billion.
