Sandia National Laboratories is a major research and development laboratory for the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration. The multiprogram lab performs national defense R&D and works on numerous energy and environmental projects. The challenge was to fulfill user requests from the computing research group to add wireless LAN access to the campus and to design and implement a secure wireless LAN that would support thin access point architecture, locate and suppress rogue access points, handle multiple virtual LANs and feature 802.11 a/b/g radios. Sandia selected the Trapeze wireless LAN Mobility System, which includes Mobility Points, Mobility Exchange, Mobility System Software and RingMaster.
