SCORE Helps In-Business Owner Fish For Savings

Mark and Dorothy Ward started Everglades Angler, a fishing and retail goods business. Mark read about SCORE while reading the Naples Daily News. He decided to start a business mentoring relationship with Naples of Collier SCORE Counselor and Past Chair Henry Rambacher. Henry and Mark met for 12 sessions, reviewing various aspects of the business, including materials management, purchasing, sales, inventory control, liquidation, human resources, leasing and business management. Mark credits Henry with offering suggestions that led to him being able to reduce expenses and increase his margins. Additionally, through their sessions together, they came to the conclusion that more advertising was necessary in order to increase traffic to their shopping store and dining area.
