SCORE Helps Iraq Veteran Get Back Into Business

Shane Buchholtz is a member of the North Dakota National Guard that was called to active duty in Iraq. He and a partner owned and operated a successful roofing business before Shane was called up to service. Shane returned home and discovered that his partner had abandoned the business and moved on. Shane contacted SBA's Bismarck office to find out how to jumpstart his business. After meeting with Shane, the SBA contacted Duane Sorby, a member of Bismarck-Mandan SCORE, to assist Shane in developing the financial information that a lender would require. Duane's background in accounting and his desire to provide assistance to a fellow veteran had Shane back on the job within a month.
