Semantics-Based Information Valuation
Source: University of New Mexico
Information understanding and information valuation have mostly been studied separately. In this paper, the authors propose using information understanding to reach a definition for information value or quality. They demonstrate how information valuation can be predicted and computed as potential causal impact of extractable semantics. Information quality is implicitly used in most of today's Information Retrieval (IR) systems. They present their view of information retrieval and then discuss how at the present time these IR systems are performing implicit information valuation in one way or another.
