ClearPath systems are increasingly participating in a variety of environments implementing Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). Reusing existing ClearPath assets in this way not only improves productivity and reduces the risk involved in new application development, it also allows users to capitalise on two ClearPath strengths: security and reliability. These strengths help in responding to the challenges of today's increased expectations of reliability, performance, and heightened security threat levels. This paper summarises the main features of service orientation and SOA, explains how ClearPath systems fit into SOA, and describes the software technology and products available to support the approach.
