Shared Services Pave the Way for an Integrated Criminal Justice System

Ministry Finland wanted to gather, analyze, and share information associated with judicial cases with other agencies and with front-line personnel. They wanted to streamline operational processes to ensure quick responses to prevent crime, administer prosecution, and generally accelerate completion of each case. The challenge was to deliver new services without extensive integration or legacy system replacement. As part of its comprehensive e-government transformation, the Ministry deployed a shared services strategy, based on BEA Tuxedo, BEA WebLogic Integration, and BEA WebLogic Portal. Front-end services joined across multiple Finnish judicial organizations to create new and improved end-user-facing services.
