Solely EP Based Orbit Control System on Small GEO Satellite
Source: University of Michigan
SGEO offers a highly flexible and modular geostationary platform, able to accommodate a wide range of payloads in the range of 300 kg and 3 kW. SGEO is the first Western satellite relying solely on electrical propulsion for all orbit control tasks after direct injection into geostationary orbit. Optional, an Apogee Engine Module based on chemical propulsion will provide the perigee raising maneuvers in case of a launch into geostationary transfer orbit. This approach extends the possible launcher candidates respectively increase the payload capacity of SGEO.
