Solving the NGN Data Migration Challenge
Source: Alcatel-Lucent
The costs associated with data inaccuracy have emerged as a fundamental issue for service providers planning to migrate subscribers from the PSTN to an IP network. This paper outlines a new approach developed by Bell Labs to help operators optimize the total costs for subscriber data validation during IP Transformation. Migrating dirty data can result in high after care costs for service provisioning, port configuration, billing errors, and even extended service outages. Validating the accuracy of all subscriber and network configuration data requires the physical testing of access equipment, which typically comes at a very high cost. So, the costs associated with data inaccuracy have emerged as a fundamental issue for service providers planning to migrate subscribers from legacy to next generation networks.
