In this paper, the authors study the suitability of constant envelope multi-carrier modulation technique. This technique combines Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and Phase Modulation (PM) where: PM creates a constant envelope signal which allows high power amplifier to operate near saturation levels thus maximizing power efficiency; OFDM increases robustness to multipath fading. The motivation of the CEOFDM- PM system is to alleviate the high peak-to average power ratio of conventional OFDM systems. In this paper, they explore more details of CEOFDM-PM systems regarding bandwidth efficiency, power spectrum density performance under AWGN and multipath channels. By way of MATLAB simulation, CE-OFDM is shown to compare favorably to conventional OFDM.
