The presenter of this webcast explains how the attendee can integrate Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 business intelligence solutions with other data sources, in particular open-source databases. The presenter looks at two open-source database platforms, PostGreSQL and MySQL, and reviews general interoperability basics like connecting to and communicating with the open-source databases. The presenter clarifies how much help the SQL Server 2008 R2 integration services toolset provides when working with the PostGreSQL and MySQL platforms, and describes how to automate much of the data consolidation with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages.
