Based in Somerville, New Jersey, Tekni-Plex is a group of companies that produces a diverse range of products, including garden hoses, egg cartons, food and pharmaceutical packaging and a range of other plastic, PVC, rubber and silicone products. This case study gives details of how Tekni-Plex was able to meet GDSN deadlines by using LANSA data sync direct. The company had to deal with a large number of retailers. Some of them required Tekni-Plex to maintain Global Trade Identification Number (GTIN) information through browser-based means. The company realized that with such large number of products to assign GTINs to, it needed an automated solution to bridge the company's database with global registry. The problem was enhanced when some retailers required over 100 attributes for each GTIN. The company sought a solution from its EDI solution provider to allow them to update the global registry. But the solution did not offer the online real-time turnkey solution that the company was looking for. At this point of time, the company brought in LANSA Data Sync Direct. With this, the company was able to synchronize product information with its various retail customers. These included WalMart, Home Depot, Target, Sears and ACE hardware.
