The AMD Opteron Processor Helps AISO Grow Its 'Green' Business by Courting Eco-Friendly Customers

Affordable Internet Services Online, Inc. (AISO) founders envisioned a Web hosting company that was environmentally friendly. While the company employed energy-efficient innovations like solar panels, its infrastructure produced unacceptable power and cooling requirements. AISO deployed IBM BladeCenter servers running VMware virtual infrastructure software on nearly 700 Second-Generation AMD Opteron processors. The infrastructure is complementary to AISO's overall sustainability efforts such as solar panels and rain water harvesting.
