The Next Generation Of Business Intelligence: Operational BI

Organizations have been using business intelligence (BI) for many years to monitor, report on, analyze, and improve the performance of their business operations. Most BI applications to date have focused on managing strategic and tactical business plans and initiatives. One of the biggest BI growth areas, however, lies in its use for managing and optimizing daily business operations. This paper discusses the role of operational BI, and looks at the business case and requirements for building and deploying an operational BI system. It also reviews how the Sybase BI solution supports operational BI, and discusses companies that have put operational BI to work in their organizations.
