The Real Costs of Sarbanes Oxley

This paper introduces and empirically assesses the real costs associated with Sarbanes-Oxley. After providing a brief overview of Sarbanes Oxley in the first section, a theoretical framework for real costs is introduced. The following section discusses the results of an empirical test of the theory. The final section contains general conclusions along with the potential policy implications.
