Most in the business industry understand the importance of competitive advantage. Many organizations are attempting to achieve competitive advantage by establishing a knowledge management process with information technology. In the knowledge management circle many are asking how can information technology help knowledge management initiatives? In knowledge management there is much potential to increase competitive advantages by using modern information technology such as the intranet, date warehouses, and expert systems to facilitate the knowledge management process. The primary focus of this paper is to present and focus on the knowledge management process and how information technology can help knowledge management initiatives achieve success.
