The Software-as-A Service (SaaS) Delivery Stack

SaaS has many advantages to the traditional software delivery model. The recurring revenue stream, simpler maintenance and application updates, and the lower cost of delivery and distribution are especially attractive for both the application provider and the end users. However, SaaS delivery has its own unique challenges in the need for an always-on, always-online infrastructure to assure that the application is available to the client 24 x7x 365. This paper provides a framework - called the SaaS Delivery Stack - to plan and track the myriad of components necessary to deliver an always-on SaaS application.
