The Transferability Of CEO Skills
Source: Mississippi State University
Executives with concurrent multiple CEO appointments are the first focus of this study. The initial firms managed by this cohort group evidence superior profitability while the subsequent managed firms evidence, at a minimum, profitability competitive with other CEOs. For non-financial firms, transferable management skills and knowledge of the tasks associated with the multi-CEO position are sufficient for the generation of above average performance in subsequently managed firms. In the case of financial firms, subsequent performance matches typical firm performance.
