Traffic Analysis in GSM/GPRS Networks Using Voice Pre-Emption Priority
Source: University of Patras
The General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is complementary to GSM network for packet data communication and they are sharing the same radio access network. In the international literature several models have been proposed to study the performance of GSM/ GPRS networks. In the impact of the reservation number of packet data channels for GPRS users is studied and on partition strategies are proposed to divide cell capacity between GSM and GPRS traffic. The GSM/GPRS network uses the same TDMA/FDMA structure and each physical channel can be assigned to either GPRS or GSM traffic. One or several physical channels can be allocated to a mobile station at a time on a demand basis.
