Source: Olive Informatics
Developing Bluetooth software systems in a very diverse computing environment involves solid understanding of the Bluetooth Specification as well as operating system and programming language nuances. For the author's research endeavors, the author used C and VisualBasic.NET to implement a Bluetooth serial communications system that runs across Windows XP, Windows Mobile, and Linux. Before delving into the particulars of development on each operating system, the author shall discuss the aspects of Bluetooth software development that are constant regardless of the operating system. Then, the author will look at Bluetooth application development and deployment on Windows and Linux. Afterwards, the author will describe the process of configuring Bluetooth on the laptop (both operating systems) and Pocket PC.
