University Enhances Wireless Security With Easy-to-Manage Authentication Technology
Source: Microsoft
To keep up with the Internet-based needs of students, faculty, and staff, the IT department at Jordan University of Science and Technology decided to deploy a wireless network throughout the school's 11-square-kilometer campus. To manage the security of the network, the school decided to deploy Internet Authentication Service (IAS), a component of the Windows Server 2003 operating system that provides authentication and authorization for wireless users. The university integrated IAS with its existing Active Directory service to authenticate user credentials and to authorize access. With IAS, the school now has a wireless network that is easy for authenticated users to access and that the university's IT department can manage with a minimal amount of time and resources.
