Using Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 Without Microsoft Exchange Server
Source: Microsoft
Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 maintains a full record of customer interaction by keeping, tracking, and associating e-mail activities with customer records. To facilitate this tracking, Microsoft CRM offers direct e-mail integration for incoming and outgoing mail. Much of this functionality is dependent on e-mail being available through the Microsoft messaging server, Microsoft Exchange Server. However, some Microsoft CRM customers do not have Microsoft Exchange Server currently installed in their organization. Instead, they use products such as IBM Lotus Notes or outsource their e-mail. This paper gives an overview of how Microsoft CRM e-mail integration works using Microsoft Exchange Server, and then addresses the options available to customers who are not using Exchange.
