Using the Nortel Agile Communication Environment Sandbox and Web Services to Improve Communication Efficiency in the Emergency Department

The Nortel Agile Communication Environment Sandbox consists of Nortel's software-based foundation environment that presents communication services in a Web Services environment for integration into IT applications and business processes. This paper discusses how the Nortel Agile Communication Environment Sandbox can be employed to facilitate more effective communication solutions in the Emergency Department (ED). Based on research experience with ED clinical workflows and decision-making, it proposes a number of applications that may be developed using the Nortel Agile Communication Environment Sandbox and that may be easily integrated with the normal ED workflow.
