Geographic routing has received significant attention from the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) research community due to its attractive properties: first, it is simple-that is, a forwarding node sends a packet to the geographically closest neighbor to a destination, without relying on control packet propagation, or beacon node selection; second, geographic routing is highly scalable, because its per-node state is independent of network size. These properties allow geographic routing protocols to play a key role in many applications for WSNs such as disaster response, medical care, and target tracking among others.
