Physical servers' processing and computing powers have been increasing for the past years, giving rise to a new breed of multi-core and multi-bit processors, with unprecedented amounts of memory and disk space. At the same time, organizations are faced with the conflicting goals of scaling up their IT infrastructure to accommodate more applications, workloads and users, while consolidating server assets for better efficiency.
