VMware Case Study: Macquarie Telecom

Macquarie Telecom provides products and services spanning telecommunications infrastructure, IP networking and data management to users across Asia and Australia. Macquarie Telecom wanted to deploy a managed virtual application hosting service that enables customers to implement affordable off-site disaster recovery. Macquarie Telecom used VMware virtualization to deploy a fully managed hosted infrastructure allowing customers to implement disaster recovery at about 50% of the cost of an equivalent hardware-based production environment. The virtualized infrastructure, combined with use of its national IP network for data replication and Internet access, allows Macquarie Telecom to offer a single service level guarantee covering the disaster recovery service.
