The Pensions Regulator is the UK regulator of work-based pension schemes, and came into force in April 2005, replacing the Occupational Pensions Regulatory Authority (OPRA). The Pensions Regulator wanted to curb physical server sprawl within the primary datacenter and lower the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) across the IT infrastructure and to implement a new data centre strategy that would offer a simpler approach to high availability compared with clustering. The challenge was to streamline and improve test & development processes. The Pensions Regulator deployed VMware Infrastructure consolidates server estate and provides high availability to applications as standard and VMware Lab Manager improves quality of application development.
