Voronoi-Based Variational Reconstruction of Unoriented Point Sets

Surface reconstruction from point clouds is motivated by a number of CAGD, point-based graphics, and reverse engineering applications where scattered point samples of a surface need to be turned into a proper, watertight surface mesh. Particularly challenging are point sets generated by laser scanners and hand-held digitizers, as they are often noisy (due to the inherent uncertainty of measurements), unorganized (due to the merging of several scans), and possibly containing large holes (due to occlusions during the acquisition process).
