This paper intends to provide designers and developers of Healthcare Solutions with a reference architecture/implementation that enables information exchange among Healthcare applications on a Web Services Platform, in conformance with HL7 specification and Web Services Profiles. The paper deals with enabling applications to interface with the Web Service Infrastructure, designing Web Services following a Contract First Approach, automating code production based on formal specification of Message Types and Application to Application Interactions that are also relevant even outside the specific Healthcare scope.
