WiMAX Channel Estimation: Algorithms and Implementations

This paper presents proposed uplink channel estimation algorithms for worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) systems (IEEE Std. 802.16). It also presents parallelized implementations in Baseband Signal Processor 1 (BSP1). Currently, the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) modulation technique is applied extensively to high-speed wireless communication systems because of its advantages in mitigating the severe effects of frequency-selective fading, its high rate transmission capability, and its high bandwidth efficiency.
