Wireless Networks In-the-Loop: Emulating an RF Front-End in GNU

The objective of this paper is to emulate the behavior of the Universal Software Radio Peripheral as an example of an RF front-end hardware for software radios. The model includes digital and analog signal processing. The emulator is implemented in GNU Radio and is intended to be used as part of a wireless network simulator. When designing wireless networks simulations play an important part. This is especially true for the development of systems which need to operate alongside other systems in a heterogeneous radio frequency environment.
