Forget the touch-screens, sleek designs, and fancy skins… if you’re holding your cell phone close to your nose, don’t you want it to smell good? You’re in luck, because now there’s a phone that will appeal even to your olfactory sense! Check out the news story, “DoCoMo’s new phones feature touch panel, smell.”
According to the article, “Sony Ericsson also made a new ‘aroma’ handset for DoCoMo, the SO703i, which comes with scented sheets designed to relax the users while making calls. The phone offers nine aroma choices for the consumer, each coupled with a different panel design.”
Scents designed to relax the user? While I believe that some scents are more relaxing than others, such as lavender and other flowering plants, I don’t think those are going to be the big sellers. I haven’t seen the nine aroma choices, but I bet apple pie, cinnamon, strawberry shortcake, and vanilla would be popular (or anything else that smells edible), as well as cologne, fresh breeze, and new car scents.
What scent do you find relaxing? How long do you think it will take before the aroma phone becomes available world-wide? Would you buy one?
