Thanks to member twilasue for sending me a link to a recent news story about the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) accusing U.S. President George Bush of stealing music and downloading it on his iPod. TechRepublic’s news channel features this blog entry on Gizmodo: “Prez a Music Thief, According to RIAA.”

According to this story as it appears on p2pnet.net, “George W. has been video-taped openly admitting he plays music by The Beatles on the BushPod… [but] Recordings by The Beatles are sacrosanct and the remaining Beatles have only just agreed to allow the band’s works to be posted online.” [THIS ARTICLE IMPLIES THAT…] Since the Beatles music isn’t yet available online, good ole Bush must have ripped them from a CD. Wait a second… isn’t it illegal to rip music from a CD? [ACCORDING TO THIS ARTICLE, YES] It would be good if the leader of our nation familiarized himself with the nation’s laws, don’t you think?

Being the visual person that I am, I couldn’t resist watching the video. With all of the Bush bloopers in circulation, I knew he wouldn’t let me down. While reading off his iPod artist list, Bush asks, “Dan McLean… remember him?” The interviewer quickly corrects him – “DON McLEAN”…. you know, the one who wrote AMERICAN PIE for God’s sake! Then Bush reveals his inside iPod connection, “Bono came in and dropped his new iPod on me…” Will this video result in the coup de grace of Bush’s political career? Most likely not…

In one of my previous blogs, I talked about how I wanted to rise to CEO – but forget that… I think I may have to up the ante and become President of the United States. I better start practicing my Inauguration “Do what I say and not what I do” speech. 😉
