For all you faithful blog followers out there in TechRepublic-land, I’m sure that you’ll agree that there truly isn’t a better news story for Newsworthy Schmoozeworthy to discuss than “Sex, schmoozing, and video games.”
During the two-day first-ever Sex in Video Games conference, Brenda Brathwaite (chair of the International Game Developers Association’s sex special interest group and a conference organizer) discussed “the benefits of gathering a group of sex-positive people who agree that video games are a natural medium for sex-oriented material, and one that should be treated no differently from movies, books, comic books, or any other medium in which adults choose to examine sex.”
Why not have sex in video games for adults? After all, tricks aren’t just for kids anymore, silly wabbit – and games aren’t just for kids either, even though a great deal of advertising within the gaming industry is targeted at today’s youth. Everyone grows up sooner or later, right? (I can almost envision my co-workers shaking their heads….) I still refuse to let my 10-year-old son play “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas” – that is, after I watched about three minutes of it when one of his friends in the neighborhood brought it over. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to check it out a little more, but I don’t think it’s an appropriate game to include in his collection.
I wonder what Hillary Clinton would have to say about this conference. Any guesses?
