ASUS has made additional source code archives for the Eee PC available for download as obliged under the GPL license. Code for the asus_acpi module, BusyBox, and several other components can now be found here.
We reported earlier this week on blogger Cliff Biffle’s discovery that the 1.8 GB ZIP file initially posted by ASUS on its Web site contained discrepancies and did not contian the full source code for all the changes made.
The source code changes made by ASUS are important because the availability of that code will simplify the process of making other Linux distributions perform better on the Eee PC.
This move by ASUS to bring itself into compliance with the GPL should satisfy the critics.
