Averatec Laptops and Linux do not play nicely

I tried to load SuSe 10 on my Averatec Laptop. Specs include: Athlon XP-M Processor 512 MB RAM 60 GB drive 1.8 ghz processor It is ugly. The machine boots up and then turns off. Verified this twice. Ouch! Better move this image back to Windows XP. Linspire loaded on this laptop perfectly and so did ...

I tried to load SuSe 10 on my Averatec Laptop. Specs include:

Athlon XP-M Processor
512 MB RAM
60 GB drive
1.8 ghz processor

It is ugly. The machine boots up and then turns off. Verified this twice. Ouch! Better move this image back to Windows XP. Linspire loaded on this laptop perfectly and so did Ubuntu.

Has anyone been able to get Linux working on an Averatec laptop?
