Backtrack v2.0 Beta is now available from www.remote-exploit.org; this is the latest release of the awesome security auditing suite which can be run as a LiveCD, from a USB flash stick or installed to disk.  The Backtrack suite provides almost every tool a security analyst or penetration tester could want; this is neatly presented with everything at ones finger tips.  An interesting development is that of the companion site http://www.offensive-security.com/ ; this offers training in ‘offensive security’ which covers techniques required for high level security auditing and penetration testing.

A certification called the OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Professional) has also been introduced.  I’ll be interested to see how this develops and will keep readers updated—in the mean time if you haven’t tried the Backtrack suite, why not give it a try, it won’t cost you anything!
