In yesterday’s blog I talked about three IT positions that were listed in the twenty Top Jobs by Money Magazine. Today, I thought I’d pass along the results of Computerworld’s Best Places to Work for IT. Companies that were nominated for the distinction “received a 100-question survey asking about their organizations’ average salary and bonus increases, percentage of IT staffers promoted, IT staff turnover rates, training and development programs, and the percentages of women and minorities in IT staff and management positions.”

The factors considered in the final decision were retention (turnover rates, promotions), diversity (percentage of women and minorities employed), career development (mentoring programs and tuition reimbursement), benefits (health and vision insurance) and training (Average number of training days and average cost of training per IT worker per year). The study lists the top ten companies for each of these factors.

If your main concern is diversity, then the University of Miami may be attractive to you as it tops the list in that category. Career development? Comerica Bank tops the list. For the full listings and some great statistics about what makes a company great, click here.
