Working with a large consultancy is a great way to launch, or revive, your government contracting efforts. NG is the world’s largest shipbuilder.
As part of the subcontracting process, NG requires companies to answer a variety of questions from its supplier data sheet. Required information for contracting with NG
If you’re planning to connect with a large consultancy like NG, you’ll have to provide some basic information, such as your firm’s specialty or niche offering. NG requests this information in the form of a capabilities statement. Beyond that, NG’s supplier data sheet requires some very specific information:
- Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number, a nine-digit number assigned by Dun and Bradstreet Information Services
- North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes, which have replaced the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system
- Business size classification, the SBA’s size standard that defines whether a business entity is small and eligible for government programs and preferences reserved for small business concerns
- Descriptions of work you’ve completed within the last two years, along with contact information for references
This information is used to track firms in NG’s subcontractor database, which is used by project managers who are developing bids for NG. The project managers can search the database for companies with specific skills, particular locations, or with minority-owned or Historically Underutilized Business classifications that are required for certain contracts.
