As a group executive director as well as CIO, Ian Cohen is a member of the Associated Newspapers commercial board and is responsible for all technology, operations and production activities that support the group’s print and online businesses.
The company publishes some of the UK’s best-known papers including Daily Mail, The Mail on Sunday, the Evening Standard and Metro. The group also includes Northcliffe Newspapers, one of the UK’s largest regional newspaper publishers and Associated Northcliffe Digital.
Cohen chairs the Group’s Technology Leadership Council, Investment Board and is currently leading a variety of business process, cultural and technology change programmes. In addition to his technology and operations responsibilities, he is also a member of Daily Mail Group Trust’s Risk Committee and their Digital Council.
He joined Associated Newspapers in November 2005 from the Financial Times where he was group IT director and a member of their main board, having originally been appointed as the CTO of FT.com in January 2001.
Cohen has more than 25 years IT experience gained from a variety of roles spanning strategy and organisational development, programme management, development and operations. Prior to joining the Financial Times, he was Head of Group Strategy, eCommerce at Lloyds TSB.
Outside of work his passions include his music and Chelsea Football Club.
