Toby Redshaw joined global insurance group Aviva as CIO at the beginning of 2008 following six years at mobile phone giant Motorola. At Motorola, among other things, he dealt with IT architecture, ebusiness, in-house collaboration and data warehousing.

Redshaw’s career has taken him around the world with stints in Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. He’s also worked in Silicon Valley where he helped build up a dotcom business, running international business units in both Europe and China.

Redshaw’s early career was spent at FedEx – where he was CIO for one of the major business units – but he has also advised several tech companies and been executive chairman of start-up MediaRiver.

In the past, he has chaired the Innovation Network at the Kellogg Graduate School of Business as well as ebusiness standards group, the RosettaNet Council.

Redshaw is a board member of World Cataract Foundation, which works to cure blindness in developing countries.
