David Jones joined the Crown Prosecution Service as CIO and director of business information systems early last year after a number of technical roles in the Army.

Prior to joining the CPS, Jones ran the Defence Fixed Networks Integrated Project Team; which included one of the largest outsourced service delivery programmes in government.

As CIO of the CPS, Jones is responsible for managing IT for more than 9,000 CPS staff and stakeholders.

As well as driving efficiencies in the department and dealing with IT strategy issues across the justice system, Jones is responsible for enabling the advent of mobile working in the CPS and is examining the possibility of introducing an all-electronic case file system.

Jones is also the chair of the Criminal Justice System’s CIO Group, the Law Officers’ Department’s representative on the CIO Council for Government, and also a fellow of the British Computer Society.
