Organization : IT Director

Jos Creese became Hampshire County Council’s head of IT in 2002, nearly 20 years after first joining the organisation.

Creese is currently working on 150 projects with a strong IT element. One of the major programmes of work is moving the council’s operations and employees back into its refurbished headquarters in Winchester.

This includes an upgraded infrastructure to improve flexible working and a new datacentre which uses heat exchange technology to help heat the building in winter.

The council also provides IT services to several hundred other public sector organisations.

Creese has said an interest in technology is not his main driver, rather its ability to solve business problems and improve the way things are done.

Creese’s move into local government followed a stint at the Department of Health where he first became involved in IT. His time at Hampshire County Council was interrupted by a short spell at Southampton City Council.

Creese is also vice president of Socitm and chair of the Local Government CIO Council.
