Nigel Beighton has been CTO of Teletext for the past four years but has worked in the tech industry for much of his career, having held roles in a wide variety of businesses.
Beighton started his career at British Steel in his hometown of Sheffield but then went on to complete a degree in computing and operational research before joining software company NCR as a Unix systems engineer.
He subsequently worked for a Unix development house, and IT services company Hoskyns, before heading to Capgemini where he spent 10 years running the company’s technology consulting division.
Next up in his varied career was a stint running his own venture capital consultancy during the dot-com bubble before heading to lastminute.com as CTO.
At Teletext Beighton is involved in specifying the IP-based interactive standards and services on digital TV such as Freeview HD and Freesat. His other duties include sitting on the board of DigitalUK, for digital switchover.
Away from the office, Beighton spends time building lots of home technology as well as tinkering with motorbikes and perfecting his kendo skills.
