Job Title : Group CIO
Organization : Cambridge Assessment
Bruno Laquet recently became CIO for Cambridge University’s international exam group, Cambridge Assessment, where he oversees all aspects of the organisation’s information management systems and logistics.
The company operates in more than 150 countries and Laquet has joined the organisation during a time of major change in the way assessment is delivered. His main challenge is to use technology to give Cambridge Assessment a competitive advantage.
Before taking up his role with Cambridge Assessment, Laquet was group CIO for steel manufacturer Corus, a role he took up in 2004. During his time at Corus, Laquet oversaw a major business transformation programme based on SAP software.
He also moved the company to a multi-sourcing strategy as it ended a major outsourcing contract. Corus was acquired by Indian giant Tata Steel in April 2007 and Laquet was deeply involved with the integration work associated with this.
Laquet started his career at France Telecom after graduating from École Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications in Paris. He later became European IT director for ST Microelectronics and then worked for Motorola in France, Switzerland and the US before joining aluminium manufacturer Pechiney as CIO.
