Ian Cohen is currently CIO at Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) Group.

In his role at the risk, insurance and employee benefits business – one of the largest companies of its type in the world – he is driving a transformational change agenda that encompasses everything from corporate governance to second-generation IT infrastructure outsourcing.

Cohen’s previous positions span the media, technology and financial services industries and his role at JLT makes a return to the financial services sector after a 10-year absence.

Cohen joined the company in 2009 from Associated Newspapers Ltd where he was also CIO and a group executive director.

Before Associated Newspapers he spent a five-year period as group IT director of the Financial Times where he was a member of the main board, having originally been appointed as CTO of FT.com in 2001.

Cohen held a variety of leadership roles at Lloyds TSB Group before his move to the FT.

An active blogger and tweeter, Cohen holds a number of industry advisory positions.

His passions outside work are his family (he has a wife and three daughters), his music (he was a professional musician in a previous life) and Chelsea Football Club, which he has followed since 1967.
