While Paul Green is currently the director of information services for the UK’s third largest metropolitan authority, Sheffield City Council, the IT chief is a relatively recent addition to the public sector.
He joined the council in 2007 after a 22-year stint in the private sector, where he worked for both Fujitsu Services and Capita, holding a number of senior IT director and consulting roles.
Green is now engaged in a technology transformation programme underpinning business change at the authority aimed at making significant savings over the next seven years.
Security is also a priority for Green, with all council staff set to undertake an education and awareness programme relating to information security by the end of this year.
Green is also involved in the Digital Region Strategy Group, a programme aiming to roll out superfast broadband across all of South Yorkshire, and IT managers’ association Socitm, as well as chairing the South Yorkshire CIO Group.
When Green isn’t at work, he enjoys surfing, rugby and playing cricket where he is also an ECB Level 2 qualified coach.
